The 2019 PDP Presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, angered by the video going viral of senator Elisha Abbo, who assaulted a nursing mother, at a sex toy shop in Abuja, has asked the senator to surrender for investigations by the police.
According to Vanguard, Atiku made this statement on Wednesday, 3rd July, 2019.
A trending video showed the senator slapping a woman on her face; the incidence was caught on CCTV footage three months ago at a sex shop in Abuja.
This comment of the PDP candidate is in line with that of other Nigerians such as; Reno Omkri, Lauretta Onochie, Festus Keyamo and others, whom are of the opinion that he should apologized publicly and surrender willingly to the police.
Below is Atiku’s statement;
He condemned Abbo’s action and charged his party to take necessary disciplinary action against him. His words, “I have seen the alleged assault video involving Sen. Elisha Abbo. The video is sad, inexcusable. I know the Senator quite well. But the law is clear and leaders must lead by example.
”I advise him to publicly apologize, voluntarily go to the police and show a good example expected of a young leader. I also call on our party, the PDP to take necessary disciplinary action and the Nigerian Police to ensure the law takes its full course.”
Recall that the Inspector General of Police has ordered for the immediate arrest of Senator Elisha Abbo, as the Nigerian Senate set up committee to investigate the case
The senate has already set a committee to investigate the case and the IG of police has given orders for the senator to be arrested right away.
